Food Safety

Successful attendees will receive a level 2 accredited certificate in food safety

This accredited course will ensure attendees receive the skills, knowledge and understanding to be able to handle, cook and serve foods to their client groups. 

We will look at the hazards associated with food, issues such as food poisoning and the importance of personal hygiene. We will also look at food management, cleaning and disinfecting and food pests.

We will also discuss the legal responsibilities of the food handler, including the consequences of poor practice.

Session Outcomes

1. Understand the legal responsibilities that go alongside food safety as well as the implications of poor practice

2. Understand the microbiological and contamination hazards associated with handling and serving food

3. Understand how food poisoning can occur and how to prevent it

4. Understand the vitally important role personal hygiene has in food safety

5. Understand the importance of keeping a kitchen clean, how to clean and when

6. Understand what types of pests can invade a kitchen, how to recognise them and how to deter them from the kitchen

7. Understand how to safely manage a kitchen, including control measures to ensure food is stored, cooked and served safely
